November 6 FCS Awareness Day
Familial chylomicronemia syndrome (FCS) is a rare inherited lipid metabolism disorder, usually caused by mutations in the lipoprotein lipase (LPL) gene or LPL-related genes.
The disease is characterized by abnormally elevated plasma chylomicrons, with clinical manifestations mainly including persistent hypertriglyceridemia (HTG), recurrent pancreatitis, and lipemic urine. FCS usually presents with symptoms in childhood or adolescence. Due to the diversity of clinical manifestations and the slow progression of the disease, FCS is often difficult to diagnose promptly in its early stages.
The first Friday of November each year is FCS Awareness Day (this year it falls on November 6). FCS Awareness Day was initiated and established by the European FH Foundation, aiming to raise global awareness of familial chylomicronemia syndrome (FCS), promote early identification and standardized intervention for this severe inherited dyslipidemia, and enable patients to receive long-term support and appropriate treatment options.

During FCS Awareness Day, the European FH Foundation released a series of promotional posters. We have compiled them to help domestic patients and science popularization enthusiasts learn about FCS and jointly pay attention to this rare inherited lipid metabolism disorder!
